01 Day - Dong Ho painting village , But Thap pagoda and Bat Trang Ceramic village by Scooter

This is the best way to get a good insight into local life of people in the countryside of Hanoi, you will enjoy the riding along Duong River on dyke road to reach the village of Dong Ho and the beautiful pagoda in the outskirt of capital
We across the Red river by Long Bien bridge (well-known by the old name during the colonial period as Paul Doumer’bridge) constructed from 1989 to 1902 during French’s occupation of the country. This is nowadays the most special bridge with unique historic, architectural, and cultural value. It is the only bridge in Hanoi where all the riders have to go in the left hand side. We could stop for photo with a very nice view to the River and the Capital. We then follow the dyke road ( less traffic and more countryside) and ride to Dong Ho, a craft village located on the left bank of the Duống River in Bac Ninh Province, about 40 km from Hanoi.

After 20 minutes riding, you will be totally in the countryside with different colors of the daily life: rice fields; banana fields; buffalo and cows; traditional Vietnamese houses... that will be copied in your photo ‘camera.

Arrive at Dong Ho, we have firstly 30 minutes to discover the making of Dong Ho painting then 1 hour more to learn and practice this work with the most famous craftsman of the village in his house. The product made by your-selves will be a free and nice souvenir for you.

We then continue our riding to But thap pagoda, one of the finest pagodas in the country's north and known as Vietnam's first Buddhist center. The pagoda was built under the dynasty of King Tran Thanh Tong (1258-1278) and rebuilt in 1647 in the Le Dynasty by Chinese Zen Buddhist priest Zhus Zhus, known as Chuyet Chuyet in Vietnamese. Being recognized as the country's cultural historic relic, But Thap Pagoda is not only an important place for pilgrims but also a tourist attraction.

After a local delicious lunch in a family in Bat Trang village, you will have time to explore this ceramic village with a visit to a workshop where you will witness the golden hands of local artisans making all kind of porducts from clay over 1000 years.
