07 Days - Discover Ha Giang, Bac Ha and Sapa

Day 01: Hanoi - Ha Giang (300 km)
Today, drive from Hanoi to Hagiang via Tuyen Quang town. Plenty of opportunities to stop en rout to photograph Vietnam's green rice paddy. Stop en route visit Pa Then or LaChi minority people. On arrival check in the home stay. Enjoy the local hospitality
 
Day 02: Ha Giang - Quan Ba – Nam Dam ( 70km)

Today, with a medium drive but we will soon be enjoying the wonderful sightseeing of this vast limestone mountain range and perpendicular walls of rock, which brings one a feeling of adventure whilst being lost in a magic land, passing the Heaven Gate, meeting some minority people along the way, then onto Quan Ba town for our lunch. Afternoon, continue wonderful drive to Yen Minh with many chances to visit and photograph the traditional houses of the hill tribes here. Arrival in Yen Minh town. Check in hotel/guest house. Dinner and Homestay in the Dzao village

Day 03: Nam Dam  - Meo Vac – Dong Van (100km)
After breakfast, we leave Nam Dam for Meo Vac. Visit to the Lung Tam workshop of local handicrafts and bakik. The scenic route climbs over a pass, and then  descend down to Meo Vac valley, a beautiful valley situated very close to Chinese border with stops for scenery shots. Have lunch in Meo Vac then  take time to climb over the Ma Pi Leng Pass with a beautiful mountain ranges and the the Nho Que river – just amazing place to be! Proceed to Dong Van via zigzag roads, visit these remote areas, to witness how hard the locals struggle with their environment for survival and development. Arrive Dong Van and have  time to photograph minortiy people and the ancient streets with old houses , built in centuries ago. Over night in Dong Van town.

Day 04: Dong Van - Yen Minh - Quan Ba - Ha Giang (150 km)
A leisurely drive from Dong Van, back to Yen Minh & Quan Ba, this day will make the itinerary a good pace, not in a rush. On the way, visit the infamous Vuong Palace, a H´mong family of high rank during French colonial rule - this palace attracts keen interest from architecturally minded visitors due to it mixed style of European and Chinese architecture. Continue drive back to Quan Ba and down hill to Ha Giang for the night.

Day 05: Ha Giang - Hoang Sun Phi - Bac Ha ( 210km)
A long but stunning scenery along the zigzag road from Ha Giang to Bac Ha will make today one of the most busy day for scenary photography. Dinner and overnight in town. Note: Road from Ha Giang to Hoang Sun Phi then Xin Man – Bac Ha can be bad and impossible to ride during the raining season, however an alternative way to travel to Bac Ha is already planned.
 
Day 06: Bac Ha - Sapa (120km)
Morning walk to Ban Pho to visit around and photo hill tribes at work or scenery (Possibility to visit BacHa Market on Sunday or Sin Cheng on Wednesday,ones of the most beautiful markets in Vietnam). Afternoon 3 hours drive to get to Sapa. Free time to visit this tourist town and overnight in town.

Day 07: Explore around Sapa, night train to Hanoi
After breakfast start drive to Laochai village for an easy decesding hiking.  Enjoy the overall pictures of the villages among terraces. Photograph the H'mong living in wooden and bamboo houses. Continue going to Tavan village to visit the Dzay minority. Afternoon visit TaPhin village, f or final shots, home to Red Zao hill tribe before drving to Lao Cai station to catch a night train back to Hanoi. End of services.

This tour is designed to be a photo tour, and, as such, we must be flexible in our scheduling. Much of what we do, and when we do it, will depend upon weather, light and your interest. We will, however, visit the major sites listed in each destination.

Vietnam has made great changes in tourist accommodations and services in recent years, but please remember that it is still a developing country, so we may experience occasional-especially in remote area- inconveniences. All our accommodations will be clean and comfortable, with private western toilet and shower/bath. The hotels have been chosen for your comfort as well as their proximity to prime photographic locations.
