1/2 Day - Amazing Cu Chi Tunnels

Just 70 kilometres northwest of Saigon lies one of the most fascinating historical sights of Vietnam's recent conflicts. The beginnings of the Cu Chi tunnels date back to Vietnam's struggle for independence from the French, but it was not until the American War that the tunnel network was widely expanded to cover a total distance of some 250 kilometres.

AMAZING CUCHI UNDERGROUND TUNNELS - VIETNAM

A small part of this network has been restored and opened to visitors to cast a fascinating light on the lives of the Cu Chi guerrillas and their hideouts. Join us for a visit to Cu Chi where we'll take you underground to experience a glimmer of the conditions in which these people lived and fought. If climbing through the tunnels holds no appeal, try sipping green tea and munching on some cassava - a guerrilla staple - in an underground. Many artefacts and recreations are also on display to give visitors an idea of the conditions, suffering and determination of the local people in their conflicts. The tunnels have been widened for our benefit (otherwise we would not be able to enter them!) For those interested there's even the opportunity to fire off rounds from an AK47 or MK16 at the nearby rifle range. Allegedly the old wooden targets were made to resemble US Marines!

Program in details:

Pick up at hotel at 07.30 am and transfer to the Cu Chi Tunnels, an incredible underground network constructed by Vietnamese fighters during the long struggle for independence. The tunnels contained hospitals, plus accommodation and schools, and were used as a military base for the Vietcong in the American war.

Cu Chi tunnels, proof of the cleverness ideas of mankind that being employed in fighting for their survival during wartime. The tunnel network in Cu Chi is about 250 kilometers, crawling through the tunnels is an adventurous experience, if you are tall, you cannot wait to come out of them because they are small, narrow, and sometimes lacks of air.

Nevertheless, it is truly worth a shot- for what you see underground is what went on during the Vietnam War. To get a clear picture of the war, it is recommended to visit Cu Chi War History Museum in the city before or after your trip to Cu Chi tunnels. After two hour drive we arrive at this site and enjoy a walk to explore some tunnels hidden in forest. The trip ends after arrival in Ho Chi Minh City around 01 PM
