Discover Halong Bay by Seaplane from Hanoi

Hai Au Aviation launched its first aerial tour of Ha Long Bay, on Tuesday, allowing tourists to view landscapes of the world famous site from the height of 500-3,000 meters above sea-level. Hai Au is the first airline to offer the service in Vietnam using two Cessna Grand Caravan seaplanes. The carrier will operate five to ten aerial tours to Ha Long Bay from Hanoi per day starting September 10.

The company also plans to offer three other daily flights for traveling between these two places starting tomorrow. These flights will take roughly 30 minutes and save time compared to a car ride that lasts three to four hours. The flights for viewing Ha Long Bays landscape will take more time, Hai Au said.

The carrier said it would expand seaplane services in Ho Chi Minh City, offering tours of destinations in the central and southern regions such as Nha Trang, Phan Thiet, Can Tho, Con Dao, and Phu Quoc after the arrival of the third seaplane in late November. Each seaplane can carry 12 passengers who each pay around (US$260) for the Hanoi-Ha Long Bay tour.

The Hai Au company is expected to open a similar service in the northern central region in December, 2014, including routes from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne (Binh Thuan province), Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa province), Chau Doc (An Giang province) and Can Tho city, as well as Con Dao, Phu Quoc and Da Lat, according to CEO of Hai Au company, Luong Hoai Nam. Ha Long Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular travel destination located in the northern province of Quang Ninh, a 153-km and 2.5-hour drive from the capital city of Hanoi. The new service promises to contribute to develop tourism in Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh province in particular, and Vietnam in general.

Once the third seaplane is shipped to Vietnam in December, the firm will expand its operations to a number of touristy destinations in the southern central and southern regions, such as Nha Trang, Mui Ne, Da Lat, Con Dao, Phu Quoc and Can Tho, Hai Au’s General Director Luong Hoai Nam said. The company also provides customised flights for special customers and State agencies, and plans to expand its services to neighbouring countries.
